A set of good bevel edged chisels is critical for any cabinet making work. The bevel allows dovetail joints to be cut, the best chisels have an accurately ground bevel with a very fine edge. Now available in both high carbon and A2 steel.
Chisels - Western
The best Western bevel edge bench chisels are my personal preference - traditionally made from hammer forged, high carbon steel but now also available in the relatively new A2 steel.
Chisels - Japanese
Japanese Chisels have a laminated blade, the hard steel laminate holds an excellent cutting edge and a concave back makes flattening quick and easy.
